Prayat Pongdam drew lasting inspiration from rural life, which became an enduring foundation of his artistic practice. Chicken Fight is a remarkable
example of his fusion of woodcut technique and painting. Meticulously carved lines, rendered with a quiet simplicity, intertwine with layers of color
and atmosphere created through the interplay of light and the artist9s distinctive use of gold leaf. Rather than a conventional woodcut print for which
Prayat is known, this work is itself an engraved wooden printing block, seamlessly incorporating painterly techniques and color into its surface to
create a singular, one-of-a-kind work.
